Six held for raping 30-year-old woman

The police has arrested six people in connection with an alleged rape that was perpetrated under the Dhabeerpura police station limits on Sunday night. The accused have been identified as Syed Mohammed, 31, Imran Ali Khan, 29, Mohd. Naser Khan, 31, Mohd Azam, 30, Mohd Hashmath, 31, and Mohd. Chand, 42. All the accused are residents of Chanchalguda and surrounding areas.

The police said that on Monday, the police received a complaint from the victim, aged about 30 years, who was working as a house maid. She said that on Sunday at about 10.30 pm, she was raped by Syed Mohammed, with the help of his associates at an abandoned house at Chanchalguda. After the incident, she said, she was threatened by the accused that if she lodged a complaint they would kill her and her children.

The police said that the accused had lured the complainant by assuring her that the `20,000 she had given accused number four, Mohd. Azam, for getting a house allotted to her under the Indiramma Scheme would be repaid. The police arrested the six and booked cases under Sections 376, 354, 506, 109, 120-B of IPC and remanded them to judicial custody.
