SI aspirant ends life due to fear of failure
A 27-year-old sub-inspector aspirant allegedly poisoned himself to death in a lodge here on Saturday. The deceased, M. Ratan Babu, a resident of Dhikkaiah, in Warangal district, feared that he wouldn’t be able to clear the physical fitness test, police said. Chaitanyapuri sub-inspector A. Venkatesh said that Ratan Babu had been coming to the city to prepare for the constable and SI tests since several months.
Earlier, he had appeared for the police constable test and had failed in the physical fitness test. Later, he appeared for the SI test and as its physical fitness test was scheduled for June he had been preparing for that. On April 26, at about 5 pm he came to Jayadeep Lodge at Chaitanyapuri and checked in for two days.
On April 28 Saturday morning when the attender knocked on the door, it was not opened. When the attender peeped through the ventilation, he saw Ratan lying on the floor unconscious. The lodge authorities informed the police immediately. Police rushed to the spot and broke open the door. They found that Ratan was dead and a suicide note written by him was retrieved from the spot. In the note, Ratan said he was not physically well and it was adversely affecting his career, the police said. Ratan had consumed about 500 ml of insecticide.
