SHRC for probe into assault on Babukhan’s nephew
The State Human Rights Commission has sought an inquiry into the alleged assault of Mansoor Babukhan, nephew of ex-minister Bashiruddin Babukhan by West Zone police. SHRC chairperson Justice Nisar Ahmad Kakru directed the chief secretary, state home secretary and DGP to inquire into the incident, following a complaint by some citizens.
The petitioners submitted that police is acting in prejudicial manner against their community and blamed cops for the recent incidents. The Commission chairperson directed government to respond by April 18. In another case, the Malakpet MLA Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala approached the SHRC seeking an inquiry into the death of a youth in Malakpet who allegedly died while escaping from the cops.
“On seeing a group of youths sitting near a house, the cops swung into action. The youth dispersed. One of them, Syed Ghouse alias Mujju, 30, from Asmangadh, started running. He jumped a wall and fell onto a tin shed and died of severe head injury,’’ the MLA said. He alleged that the youth was falsely implicated in four cases of violence in Madannapet and Saidabad areas.
