Sharmila begins Praja Prasthanam yatra
Calling herself an arrow released by her brother and Kadapa MP Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Ms Sharmila Reddy on Thursday embarked on her 3,000-km padayatra from her father YSR’s memorial at the Idupulapaya valley in Kadapa district.
Claiming that the Maro Praja Prasthanam padayatra would expose the inefficiency of the state government and its nexus with the TD, Ms Sharmila clarified that she was undertaking the padayatra as an ordinary member of the party and a representative of her brother.
“This journey should have been taken up by my brother Jagan. Since vested interests have kept him in jail, I am taking it up. I am the arrow released by Jagan,” she said.
Inaugurating the padayatra at around noon on Thursday, Ms Sharmila and Jagan’s mother, YSR Congress honorary president Ms Vijayalakshmi said, “Nine years ago YSR had undertaken the first Praja Prasthanam under similar circumstances with people from all sections being neglected by the then TD government.
The Kiran Kumar Reddy government is now doing the same. Since Jagan is confined to jail, my daughter Sharmila is undertaking the padayatra.” “Of the two children I have, one has been wrongfully jailed and the other is hitting the road as our family is committed to the state’s welfare.
The Congress has scant respect for the people and has been writing off one scheme after the other and imposing heavy taxes,” she said.
