Security increased for May 28 after intel alert
The city police, as well as police across the state, has made elaborate security plans for May 28, the day Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is to appear in the special CBI court at Nampally in the disproportionate assets case. The police has received Intelligence inputs about possible violence by his supporters.
With the Intelligence alert warning of possible trouble in the event the YSR Congress chief is arrested, all commissioners of police and District Superintendents of Police have been asked to make adequate bandobust. All Station House Officers (SHOs) in the city were informed of the possibility on Monday evening. The police has consequently planned deployment of additional forces at various key locations, including making watertight security at the Nampally court premises, and have activated the armed reserve forces.
The district police, particularly in Rayalaseema and the coastal district, has also made elaborate security plans for the day. Meanwhile, denying allegations made by Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the director-general of police Mr V. Dinesh Reddy on Tuesday said: “The YSR Congress party is claiming through the media that the DGP met (Union minister and senior Congress leader) Mr Vayalar Ravi during his visit to Hyderabad and discussed the political situation. The statement is absolutely baseless and far from truth. The DGP neither met Mr Ravi during his last visit to Hyderabad nor spoke with him.”
