School van hits wall after brakes fail
A school van went berserk on Tuesday after its brakes failed, ramming into another school van parked on the road side in Rajendranagar. The van subsequently came to a halt after hitting the compound wall of a house near Pillar No. 186 of Upparapalli. Fortunately, no student was present in the vehicles when the mishap took place.
The vehicle belonging to Donald Memorial School, was on its way to pick up students when it hit the school van belonging to Glendon Academy. The other school van was parked on the road side waiting for students. According to Rajendr-anagar inspector S. Jayaram, the mishap took place at around 6.30 am and no case was registered as no complaint was lodged. A compromise was reached between the managements of the two schools and no complaint was lodged with the police. The principal of Donald Memorial School, Mr Benjamin, promised to get the damaged school bus and compound wall repaired, police said. “We insisted that they lodge a complaint but they didn’t come forward,” said the Rajendra-nagar inspector.
