Satyanarayana Reddy, ex-U.P. Governor, dead
Former Governor of Odisha and Uttar Pradesh B. Satyanarayana Reddy passed away here on Saturday. He was 86. Satyanarayana Reddy was suffering from lung problems for some time. He had been shifted to a corporate hospital in the city a couple of days ago, where he breathed his last. His last rites were performed in the city.
Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Union minister S. Jaipal Reddy, ministers K. Jana Reddy, Sudarshan Reddy, Telugu Desam chief N. Chandra-babu Naidu, TRS leader Nayani Narasimha Reddy, BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu, state BJP president G. Kishan Reddy and others condoled the death of the veteran freedom fighter and politician.
Born on August 21, 1927, Satyanarayana Reddy hai-led from Annaram village of Shadnagar mandal in Mahbubnagar district. He took an active part in the freedom struggle, including the Quit India Movement. He entered politics as member of Socialist Party and later served in Janata Party, Lok Dal and Telugu Desam. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha on a Janata Party ticket in 1978 and from the TD in 1984.
