Retired cop seeks bail in Tara Chowdhary case
Retired IPS officer M. Bhaskar approached a Nampally court for anticipatory bail in actor Tara Chowdhary sex racket case on Friday.
Though his name didn’t figure in the FIR or in her confession statement, the 61-year-old officer moved the court for relief, anticipating trouble. His only connection to the case was that his visiting card was recovered from her house.
He denied any connection to the actor or the case. “She rang me up once seeking help for a poor family to secure a Home Guard job,’’ he explained when contacted. The case was posted for hearing to Monday.
He continued, “I told him that I could only forward the application form, but that my role came to an end there and I couldn’t help further.
‘’ He added: ``I am a diabetic and cardiac patient and suffering from hypertension. I have been troubled by frequent calls ever since the issue surfaced.
Since I can’t withstand pressure I moved the petition,’’ said the 1977 batch IPS officer who retired as an additional DG a year ago.
He made it clear that he isn’t against Tara Chowdary or the police. The court posted the case for hearing on Monday.
