Registrar’s removal challenged
Justice B. Chandra Kumar of the AP High Court on Wednesday granted 10 days’ time to the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research University (NALSAR) on a plea challenging an order of the Vice-Chancellor relieving Dr. Madhabhushi Sridhar Acharyulu from the post of Registrar. Dr Sridhar approached the High Court, challenging the order, contending that the action of the VC was violative of the principles of natural justice and provisions of the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research University Act, 1998.
He told the court that he was appointed Registrar recently by the then Chancellor (the Chief Justice), overruling the candidature of Prof. K. V. S. Sharma. But the outgoing vice chancellor, Veer Singh, had initiated fresh proceedings and appointed Prof. K. V. S. Sharma as Registrar of the varsity. The judge admitted the plea and granted 10 days’ time to the varsity to file a counter affidavit.
