Realtor Gupta held, in hospital
The police on Saturday arrested realtor Gowri Shankar Gupta in connection with the HMDA land allotment fraud. The HMDA alleged that the realtor had used the letterhead of DLF to obtain 25 acres in Kukatpally. A case was registered by the CCS police on March 23, after a complaint from HMDA, alleging that by forging a letter of DLF Ltd, land was obtained.
John Victor, the deputy commissioner of police, CCS, Hyderabad, said, “Investigations revealed that he was the mastermind behind this fraud and that he had used the letterhead of DLF Building India Ltd, for applying for 25 acres at Kukatpally, which he signed as the authorised signatory of DLF Building Ltd. Subsequently, he forged other documents and fraudulently acquired 24.3 acres for which he paid registration fee from his own pocket and not from the funds of DLF.” The police arrested G.S Gupta at around 9. 30 pm.
“The matter came to light when DLF SBPL Developers Ltd., a subsidiary of DLF, informed HMDA that they were not in any way connected with the allotment of land, and that they did not authorise anyone to apply for land. During investigations it became clear that Gupta, along with his employees, used the name of DLF for obtaining government land at concessional rates without informing DLF,” added the deputy commissioner of police.
As the cops were questioning him on Saturday, Gupta complained of chest pain and was shifted to MediCiti Hospital for treatment. However, the Gupta family and the GS Group denied the charges and said that Gupta and his employees were being framed.
