Ravindra, Jaju escape lift crash

West zone deputy commissioner of police Stephen Ravindra, information and technology secretary Sanjay Jaju, and their family members were injured when the lift they were in went into a free fall.

Sources said that Mr Ravindra and Mr Jaju were going to attend the wedding anniversary party of a common friend in his apartment in Jubilee Hills when the accident occurred. The cable that holds the lift snapped and the lift hurtled down. Sources said the injured were treated at Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills.

“They are fortunate as they escaped with minor injuries. Usually when a lift collapses from the fourth floor to the ground, it has serious implications for the passengers,” the source said. Though the incident occurred three days ago, the police are tight-lipped about it and no case has been registered.
