Ravi keeps mum on T-discussions
Union Minister Vayalar Ravi on Tuesday said discussions of the Congress Core Committee and strategic group meetings on the Telangana issue cannot be disclosed to the media yet.
Speaking in New Delhi, Mr Ravi, the AICC’s special emissary to AP, said he cannot say anything concrete on the Telangana issue as discussions have not concluded.
“I am not the authority to say anything on the subject. I am a minister. But I know discussions are taking place but details cannot be revealed to the media,” he said.
He also refused to convey the nature of discussions he had with Telang-ana Rashtra Samiti chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao and ministers from the st-ate Cabinet on the subject.
The ministers from Telangana had met him on Saturday.
“Nothing is decided yet, everything is incomplete. Let the consultations continue and if something emerges we can brief the media,” Mr Ravi said.
In a related developme-nt, Congress MP V. Hanu-mantha Rao met Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday and discussed the Telangana issue.
“I have told her to announce a decision on Telangana immediately so that the Congress in the state can be saved and strengthened. If there is no decision it will be difficult for the Congress in the state to survive,” Mr Rao told newspersons.
He asked state ministers to go to the people and counter the criticism by TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu and YSRC leader Y.S. Sharmila Reddy.
