Ras Al Khaimah blames AP for delay
Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority has sought a meeting between the Chief Minister and its executive management to discuss the status of the Vanpic project and to explain its plans and commitment towards the project and to resolve the current delays and difficulties. The company’s CEO had earlier written to Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy on April 3 and the latest letter is a follow up as the attempts to arrange a meeting with the Chief Minister had been unsuccessful.
“We have completed all pre-development activities such as field surveys and investigations, technical, marketing and environmental studies. All statutory clearances including environment clearances from the ministry of environment and forests and the consent of establishment from the AP Pollution Control Board were obtained for development of the port project. An EPC contract was awarded for the construction of the port,” wrote Mr Sadeq.
“We understand that the concessionaire (Vanpic Ports Pvt Ltd) has not yet been able to commence construction at the port because certain conditions precedent for which the AP government was responsible. Execution of lease in respect of land at the port, transfer to Vanpic the possession of the land, implementation of relocation and rehabilitation activities and providing essential external infrastructure like road connectivity, water and power supply have not been undertaken,” the letter further stated.
