Protests against deeksha reach new heights

The proposed maha deeksha by YSRC leader Y.S. Vijayalakshmi on July 23 in Sircilla for the cause of weavers, seems to have stirred up a storm in district politics.

To protest against the deeksha, two members of Telangana Rashtra Samiti Vidyarthi on Friday climbed a cellphone tower near Moosapet flyover.

Also, three Nizam College youngsters climbed an advertising hoarding in Basheerbagh, demanding that Ms Vijayalakshmi withdraw her proposed deeksha.

The protesters demanded that Vijayalakshmi should not enter Telangana region without making her party’s stand clear on the statehood issue. All five came down after a few hours and were arrested.
