Prajapatham flooded by water complaints from city
Complaints related to acute scarcity of drinking water are pouring in from all parts of the city during the ongoing Praja Patham programme. Angry citizens are gheraoing the MLAs and officials for their failure to provide drinking water. Holding empty pots, hundreds of women are venting their ire on officials, MLAs and corporators. In one instance, the MIM MLA from Nampally, Mr Virasat Rasool Khan, was almost locked up in a park at Bhojagutta near Mehdipatnam by local women who complained of acute water scarcity.
With the borewells in a majority of the houses already having dried up, most of the people are depending on piped water supply by the Water Board. Over 3,000 water-related complaints have been lodged with the elected representatives and officials by the citizens in the last 10-days alone during Praja Patham programme. These complaints have been lodged from all the 24 Assembly constituencies falling under the limits of Greater Hyderabad including the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad covering upmarket areas of Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills.
