Power situation to worsen
The shortage of power in the state will worsen with the loss of another 300 to 400MW of power on an average from next month.
The loss, which is due to the ministry of power rolling back 15 mmscmd of natural gas, was initially a little less than 300MW, but it is expected to go up from April.
The Union ministry of power has issued a circular, announcing the rollback of gas supply to the state by 15mmscmd in 2012-2013 and a further rollback of 3.5 mmscmd in 2013-2014.
The power situation in the state remains precarious with the energy requirement crossing 305 MU, the highest ever so far.
The energy deficit, which is currently hovering around 45 MU per day, is expected to cross 70 MU per day.
The loss of 300 to 400 MW comes as a huge blow, as all parts of the state are already experiencing powercuts and the industries too are on the brink of collapse.
The huge gas power installed capacity to the tune of 3,500 MW is fast turning into a negative, for AP is the only state dependent squarely on gas allocation with a huge installed capacity.
