PJR’s daughter Vijaya Reddy joins YSRC

P. Vijaya Reddy, daughter of late Congress leader P. Janardhan Reddy, on Sunday joined the YSR Congress party in the presence of Y.S. Vijayalakshmi and other leaders of the party. Ms Vijaya Reddy’s brother, P. Vishnuvardhan Red-dy, is presently the Congress MLA from Jubilee Hills. She was denied a ticket by the Congress in 2009 and contested as an Independent from Serilingampally constituency and lost.
On Sunday, Ms Vijaya Reddy first paid homage at her late father’s statue in Khairatabad and then led a rally to the YSR Congress headquarters in Jubilee Hills. She was welcomed by Ms Vijayalakshmi and others. Ms Vijaya Reddy said both her late father and the late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, former chief minister, were towering leaders in the Congress party who served the poor throughout their lives and are remembered for it. She said she is prepared to serve the YSR Congress to fulfil the dreams of both the leaders. Ms Vijaya Reddy is expected to be made city president of the YSR Congress' women’s wing and is likely to be the party's candidate from Khairatabad in the next election. Her father had represented the constituency for more than two decades, but is now held by labour minister Danam Nagender.
