Party lacks team spirit: Chiru
Two days before the state Congress coordination panel meeting, MP K. Chiranjeevi on Saturday was highly critical of the functioning of the party and said that lack of coordination and discipline across the board was bringing the Congress down.
His critique came while participating in a brain storming session organised by senior Congress MP V. Hanumantha Rao on Saturday to “Save Congress and Strengthen Congress”. This was not the first time that the erstwhile Praja Rajyam leader complained about the Congress’ lack of coordination. In fact, he had made the same observations immediately after the disastrous bypolls.
Stating that there was no coordination between the government and the party, Mr Chiranjeevi said, “The party is facing a severe crisis, yet there is no coordination; uncertainty is prevailing all over.” He said there was every need to conduct brain storming sessions by the party leadership and discuss the situation in the state to face the general elections in 2014. In an indirect reference to Jagan Mohan Reddy, Mr Chiranjeevi said those who looted the state were now threatening to bring the government down.
Time to take quick, firm decisions: Chiru
Congress MP K. Chiranj-eevi said that even though the Dharmana Prasada Rao committee had submitted its report to both the Chief Minister and the PCC chief long back, there was a big question mark on when and by whom the recommendations of the Committee would be implemented.
“We are only making reports and forgetting about the implementation; it is the time for taking quick and firm decisions,” he added. He was also critical about TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu who had promised 33 per cent seats to BCs in the 2009 elections but had ultimately given only 47 seats and today claims to be the champion of BCs. Party MP V. Hanumantha Rao, who organised the session, said that the Congress Coordination panel needed to be expanded by inducting some more leaders to bring better coordination between the party and government. He added that though almost all leaders had agreed to a brain-storming session, unfortunately it had not been organised and under these circumstances he had to intervene and do so himself.
