PAC: Unused land must be returned
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) headed by Mr Revuri Prakash Reddy has recommended the government to take over unutilised lands allotted to various companies and industries in the Medak industrial belt and other parts of the state. A 10-member PAC that visited industrial areas of Medak district like Patancheru, Sangareddy, Kothlapur, Ramachandrapuram and other places found several defunct companies holding huge tracts of lands while some parts of it were used to build real estate projects.
The PAC opined that the lands should be immediately resumed by the government. Mr Prakash Reddy asked the Medak district collector to submit a comprehensive report on the extent of land allotted to various companies in the district and its utilisation so far within a fortnight. “Many firms having huge tracts of lands have either closed or partly turned to real estate,” he said after visiting some of the industries. PAC chairman said Ralcem is holding 150 acres, Sai Bricks 10 acres, Pratap Steels 50 acres, Latricate 80 acres (all defunct now) and Lucky Semi Conductors 10 acres. According to PAC members, the firms promised one job per household as a precondition when they took the lands while the government assured compensation to farmers who lost their lands, but it remained on paper.
