Over 50,000 AP students to sit IIT-Jee
Students are gearing up to appear for IIT-JEE, considered to be the toughest of all the entrance tests, on Sunday, April 8.
With students from Andhra Pradesh sweeping the top 10 ranks at the national level, including the all-India first rank, consecutively in 2010 and 2011, there are expectations that this feat will be repeated this year too.
This year, there are several changes over the previous JEEs. Students have to use ballpoints, not pencils, to darken the circles when marking correct answers. Students sho-uld be sure about the correct answer before darkening the circle with a ballpoint pen, since there is no scope for erasing the answer unlike earlier when pencils were used.
Over 50,000 students from AP are registered for IIT-JEE this year. Students and parents are more anxious this year, with reports of the Centre replacing IIT-JEE and AIEEE with a single entrance exam, ISEET, from next year.
With the confusion cast over the pattern of the exam next year, students are focused on clearing the test this year while it is still in the old format.
With two days left, teachers and parents are helping students with last-minute preparations in order to cope with the anxiety. Counsellors suggest that students should get adequate sleep and a proper nutritious diet during the exams.
