Nod to prosecute accused in communal riots
The state government on Tuesday issued orders allowing prosecution of those accused in two cases of communal violence that took place in 2010 under the Afzalgunj and Mangalhat police stations.
However, the state government has been sitting on several cases where its sanction is required for prosecuting those accused in cases of communal violence. The government’s permission is mandatory.
There are 31 cases of communal clashes registered in the Afzalgunj police station. The state government has so far given permission for prosecution of those involved in 12 cases; the police request for nod to prosecute in 19 cases is pending.
