No wrong if a minister appears before court: CM
Stating that there were earlier instances where some ministers had appe-ared before courts, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday said there was nothing wrong in Dharmana Prasada Rao attending the CBI court in the Jagan illegal investments case while being part of the state Cabinet.
The CM added that he would take a decision on Mr Rao’s resignation once he receives the minister's explanation. Mr Reddy had sought Mr Rao’s response to the CBI’s request, seeking sanction to prosecute him. “I will not take any decision on his resignation till I get his explanation,” he said. Meanwhile, Mr Rao met the CM late on Saturday evening and submitted an explanation.
When asked whether Mr Rao would be seen in next Assembly Session, the CM sarcastically said, “there is no guarantee what would happen to anyone the next day and how long anyone would live and in what capacity.” He said ministers who received SC notices on the issuance of 26 controversial GOs pertaining to quid pro-quo arrangement, had met him recently and requested an enquiry into whether or not business rules were followed scrup-ulously while issuing the GOs and whether or not policy decisions taken by Cabinet were genuine.
