No truck with td for bypolls: CPI
Newly elected Communist Party of India national general secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy on Wednesday said that the party aimed to provide a viable alternative to the Congress and the BJP at the Centre. Mr Sudhakar Reddy also ruled out his party's support to the Telugu Desam in the forthcoming bypolls.
While asserting that the unity of the Left parties was still on the agenda and joint agitations on burning public issues would continue, he, however, ruled out any poll alliance with the CPI (M). The veteran communist leader returned to the city for the first time after being elected as the CPI’s new general secretary. He reiterated his party’s full support to the Telangana cause, but dismissed the allegation that the people of Seemandhra region had looted the Telangana region.
Later, he told media persons that “The CPI’s main task is to prepare the party to be battle-ready, strengthen the organisation, bring all Left and democratic forces on one platform and provide a viable alternative of non-Congress and non-BJP forces.” He also underlined the need for electoral reforms.
