Naidu faces first blast of heat in Mahbubnagar
Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday faced T-heat for the first time in Mahbubnagar during his Vasthunna Meekosam padayatra.
Agitated by the suicide of a student in the OU campus, a group of you-th raised Jai Telangana slogans and demanded Mr Naidu to join the chorus when the TD chief was addressing a roadside public meeting.
Immediately, all hell broke out and there was scuffle between TD activists led by Makthal MLA Dayakar Reddy and T-activists, forcing the police to intervene.
Police lathicharged the T-agitators, who retaliated by pelting stones. A Telugu TV channel cameraman and some others were injured in the incident. The agitators, carrying black flags, demanded Mr Naidu come clear on the Telangana stand.
Initially shaken by the turn of events, the TD chief soon regained his composure and continued with his padayatra, amidst police bandobust.
Mr Naidu asserted that he was not against Tela-ngana. “I have been repe-atedly saying that I am not against Telangana. The padayatra is for the people and to redress the-ir grievances,” he said.
