MPs meet Sonia, fail to highlight Telangana
Much to the disappointment of some state Congress MPs, their much-anticipated meeting with AICC president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday remained confined to the procedure to be followed in the Presidential election and there was no mention of Telangana. According to sources, Mrs Sonia Gandhi briefed the MPs on how to vote in the election.
The meeting ended in just five minutes after which Mrs Sonia Gandhi left the room. As she was leaving, MPs Gutta Sukhender Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar raised “Jai Telangana” and “Jai Sonia Gandhi” slogans, sources said. The sources added that Mrs Sonia Gandhi did not pay much attention to this.
Later she called Rajya Sabha member K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao to another room and held discussions with him for about 10 minutes.
