Most blessed Ramzan phase starts
With two-thirds of the holy month of Ramzan over, prayers, piety and charity have reached a crescendo as Muslims prepare for the last 10 days, considered the month’s most blessed phase. It is believed that the Laylat-ul-Qadr (the most important night in the Islamic or Hijri calendar and described in the Quran as a night equivalent to a 1,000 months) is among the five nights with odd dates (21, 23, 25, 27 or 29) of Ramzan. Devout Muslims offer prayers all night in the hope of earning the blessings of Allah and become worthy of His mercy.
Not only mosques, but every Muslim household is abuzz with activity through these five nights. Some Muslims have booked halls for these 10 nights and have made arrangements for Taraweeh prayers for women. That is apart from the special arrangements in mosques to hold night-long Taraweeh prayers, reciting all the ayats (verses) of the Quran in one night. “We have made arrangements for Tahajjud prayers in congregation at Masjid Mohammed Shukoor, Fathe Darwaza. The Tahajjud prayers are offered in the middle of the night, and in this masjid, they begin at 3am while in other masjids, they begin at 2.30am,” said Khasim Abul-ulai of Fathe Darwaza.
