Metro rail authorities make it easier for traffic at work site
The Hyderabad Metro Rail officials have taken up facilitation works along Corridor-I (Miyapur to SR Nagar) and Corridor-III (Nagole-Mettuguda) routes at a cost of Rs 59 crore to minimise traffic problems during construction. The funds are being used for widening roads, developing service roads, improving junctions, forming alternative roads, broadening culverts.
“Corridor-I passes through the busy NH-9. To ensure smooth flow of traffic duri-ng metro rail work, we have decided to widen NH road from Miyapur to Moosapet at a cost of Rs 17 crore and from Moosaram Bagh to LB Nagar at a cost of Rs 23 crore,” said N.V.S. Reddy, managing director, HMR. “About Rs 2.14 crore is being spent on plantation work at Narsapur, HMT road, Balanagar metro station, Miyapur depot, Panjagutta, Erramanzil and between Nagole and Mettuguda,” he said.
Besides, HMR has begun construction of a government school building at Moosapet, Kukatpally, at a cost of Rs 3.98 crore. Works pertaining to shifting of street lights at a cost of Rs 87 lakh and shifting of 11 KV and 33 KV lines at a cost of Rs 87 lakh are under way. Another Rs 2 crore is being spent on forming an alternative 1.2 km road along Hyderabad nala (Uppal ring road to Ramanthapur via Devender Nagar), besides Rs 1.20 crore on junction improvements at four places between Nagole and Mettuguda and Rs 1.16 crore on widening of the carriageway at different stretches.
