Metro land acquisition completed
The contentious land acquisition process for Hyderabad Metro Rail project has been completed, paving way for the concessionaire, L&T, to expedite work . The government has handed over 243 acres out of the 269 acres required, to L&T. Also, decks have been cleared to transfer the remaining 25 acres soon.
The concessionaire has stepped up work in Miyapur (104 acres) and Nagole (100 acres) to set up depots and terminal stations. The 8-km stretch from Nagole to Mettuguda and the 11-km stretch from Miyapur to SR Nagar will wind up in two stages by 2014-end, it is learnt. A top official said HMR has devised a “six-stage strategy” for the entire project, aiming to cover 71 km by 2016.
HMR managing director N.V.S. Reddy and city MLAs Bhik-shapathy Yadav and Dr Jayaprakash Nar-ayan inspected facilitation works bet-ween SR Nagar and Miyapur on Friday. Mr Reddy said, “We are discussing with the Railways, MMTS and RTC authorities to provide better inter-modal connectivity between the 63 Metro Rail stations and MMTS stations, major railway stations of Secunderabad, Nampally, Begumpet and all bus terminals. All Metro Rail stations will have air-conditioned mini-bus services connecting sorroun-ding areas,” he said. He said HMR has now taken up road widening, storm wa-ter drainage works, link roads formati-on, shifting of street lights, improvement of major junctions and other works.
