MBA graduate cheats people of Rs 5cr, held
The Jubilee Hills police has arrested a 32-year-old woman and her husband for allegedly cheating their customers to the tune of about Rs 5 crore.
Police said that the 32-year-old woman G. Pavani, an MBA graduate, and her husband Vamsidhar cheated many people and three cases have been pending against them at the Jubilee Hills police station.
The woman opened an agency called Media Point, a few years ago, which used to train graduates in software and collected a lot of money from aspirants. Her husband started a real estate venture in Muncherla village of Kandukur on the city’s outskirts and downed shutters after collecting money from people to whom he had promised flats.
Pavani was arrested in Prasashannagar whereas her husband is absconding. A native of Chittoor, Pavani fell in love with Vamsidhar from Guntur district and got married about five years ago.
She was booked under Section 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the IPC.
“She is being questioned. The couple might have cheated over 50 persons. We have three cases pending against them,’’ said Jubilee Hills S-I K. Saidulu.
