Man who tried immolation on Wednesday dies
Twenty-three-year-old Sripuram Srikanth, who had set himself ablaze in LB Nagar on Wednesday afternoon for the cause of Telangana statehood, succumbed to his burns at the Osmania General Hospital at around 10.30 pm on Friday.
Srikanth used to work in the parking slot at NTR Nagar Vegetable Market. He died while undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, the Telangana JAC rally on Friday turned tense as the agitators tried to damage NTR’s statute at Ashok-nagar. Cops prevented the agitators and arrested them as a preventive measure.

A 26-year-old lorry driver, identified as B. Suresh, attempted self-immolation at Dameracherla, Nalgonda, to press home the demand for Telangana. He is recuperating.
According to cops, Suresh, poured kerosene and set himself on fire, shouting ‘Jai Telangana’. His neighbours rushed to his rescue. He was admitted to Gandhi Hospital with 25 per cent burn injuries. Police have booked a case.
