Man kills wife for not getting more dowry

A man set his wife on fire with the help of his parents after dousing her in kerosene, police said. The incident took place under Marpally police station limits of Ranga Reddy district. The woman Pasula Pushpamma, 22, from Damasthapur village succumbed to burns while being treated at Gandhi Hospital on Saturday night. According to Marpally police, Pushpamma married Veeresham five years ago. Veeresham used to work as a daily wage labourer. At the time of marriage, her parents gave him Rs 1 lakh in cash and 5 tola gold ornaments as dowry. However, he allegedly began harassing her for an additional Rs 50,000 as dowry.
