Man kills wife, commits suicide

A man allegedly killed his wife and later committed suicide after a quarrel between them on Thursday at Chintal. K. Sadanandam, 27, strangled his wife, K. Mamatha, 21, with an electric cable and hanged himself to death at his residence in Madhusudan Reddy Nagar, police said. The incident came to light when Sandanadam’s brother came to the house on Thursday morning and found Mamatha dead in the room with the electric cable around her neck, and Sadanandam hanging from the ceiling.

Police said Sadanandam, an employee at SR welding company at Jeedimetla, used to fight with his wife for dowry, which her parents had promised. He had already accepted Rs 3 lakh and jewellery at the time of marriage. Jeedimatla police suspect the incident to have occurred on Thursday morning and has registered a case under Section 174 of CrPc.
