Man hacked in daylight
A 40-year-old man was axed to death in broad daylight while people watched the scene, near Guddimalkapur market, Tappachiputra on Wednesday. The victim, C. Vidyanand, a petty financier from Sabzi Mandi in Kulsumpura, was attacked by four people with swords and knives at Shiva Bagh main road on Wednesday morning. Vidyanand was on his bike. According to the police, a silver-coloured car followed Vidyanad while he was returning from the market and hit his bike, making him fall on the road.
“Four people got out of the car and started stabbing him with knives and swords. Since no one took him to hospital even after the offenders left the place, he died on the spot owing to the multiple injuries he sustained,” said Tappachiputra inspector of police S. Murali Krishna.
Eye witnesses said that though the victim cried for help, no one dared to rescue him. The hackers are still absconding. Police said an old rivalry over a murder case, in which the victim was involved, led to the murder. Vidyanand’s neighbour Balayya was murdered in the Kulsumpura police station limits a few years ago and Vidyanand was said to be involved in the murder. Police suspects the murderers were the sons and friends of Balayya. Mr Murali Krishna said the two sons and their family had fled from their home soon after the incident occurred. Police have booked a case for murder under IPC section 302 and are investigating.
