Man dives in search of nephew, dies

A 50-year-old man drowned in a lake in Ranga Reddy district late on Thursday night while he was trying to look for his young nephew, who had drowned the same evening, the police said on Friday.

The deceased, Syed Mehmood, along with 10 others from the locality, had ventured into the lake in search of his nephew Syed Sameer, but reportedly drowned at around 11 pm. Mehmood’s body was found on Friday morning. Meanwhile, Sameer’s body was fished out at around 5.30 pm on Friday after the police, unable to trace the 11-year-old in the waters of Bhuram Khan Kunta at Venkatapur Panchayat of Balapur, took the help of professional divers. According to police, Sameer and his friends were bathing in the lake on Thursday evening. Sameer and another boy drowned, but the friends rescued the other boy. Sameer had drowned before they could reach him.
