Man arrested in molestation bid

An unemployed graduate was arrested from Vanasthalipuram on Tuesday for drugging a B.Tech student, trying to molest her and threatening to post her nude pictures on the Internet if she dared to lodge a complaint. The police said the accused, M. Prashant Naik, 23, lives in Shalivahananagar, Dilsu-khnagar, adding that it has emerged from initial questioning that he did not click the victim in the nude. According to Vanasthalipuram sub-inspector B. Raju, Prashant claimed he held a high position at the RGI Airport and promised to ensure that she gets a job in a bid to lure her.

“A month ago, he took her to his room at Shalivahananagar and offered her fruit juice laced with sedatives. He tried to molest her after she was unconscious,” Mr Raju said. She reportedly gained consciousness soon after and threatened to lodge a complaint against him, at which point Prashant warned her against going to the police, saying he would post her nude photos online, the sub-inspector said. The victim lodged a complaint with the police on Monday evening. Based on the FIR, the accused was arrested on Tuesday and produced before a city court.
