Lucky 263 get free stay in Mecca, Haj panel gets list
The Nizam’s Auqaf Committee selected 263 Haj pilgrims for the free stay at Nizam’s Rubath in Mecca in a draw of lots on Sunday. Sources from the committee said the process of selecting the Haj pilgrims from the Azizia category has been completed and 263 of 415 applicants were selected for the free stay. The list has been sent to the Central Haj Committee.
The Auqaf committee will publicise the list of selected pilgrims with details of their cover numbers. The selected pilgrims must report to the Auqaf committee from August 7 to August 9, between 11 am and 4 pm with required documents. However, confusion over the Rubath stay still persists, as the Auqaf Committee is still apprehensive if the Rubath custodian Hussain Al Shareef will have an upper hand when it comes to operations in Saudi Arabia. Mr Shareef has already selected as many as 370 deserved candidates through an online draw of lots.
When the Auqaf committee was asked if it has anybody to assist their proceedings in Mecca, they maintained that other than the custodian Mr Hussain Al Shareef, they don’t have anybody. Interestingly, when the custodian selected pilgrims for two Rubaths and selected 370 pilgrims, the Auqaf committee only selected pilgrims for one Rubath, that too only 263 pilgrims. “The Auqaf committee will sort out all the issues as we have enough time in hand and Hajis need not worry about anything,” informed a member.
