Lokur bench recuses itself from DGP case

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Madan B. Lokur and Justice P.V. Sa-njay Kumar of the AP High Court recused themselves from hearing an appeal by the CID challenging the orders of a single judge to lodge a case of criminal contempt against the DGP, Mr V. Dinesh Reddy, and additional DGP of the CID, Mr S.V. Ramana Murthy.

The CID had filed the appeal on behalf of Mr Ram-ana Murthy and a station house officer of the CID.

The single judge, Justice Ramesh Ranganathan had recently directed the Regis-trar of the HC to initiate pr-oceedings against Mr Dine-sh Reddy and Mr Ramana Murthy, for suppression of facts and for filing false affidavit, while disposing of a plea by the Godavari Valley Development Authority ch-airman Umesh Kumar aga-inst the DGP.
