Liquor don Balraj held while fleeing
Liquor mafia don and former Praja Rajyam party member Mr B. Balraj Goud was arrested by the Anti- Corruption Bureau on Monday night in Renigunta in Tirupati. Mr Goud has been on the run for the past three-and-a-half months. He was caught while attempting to flee to Kolkata. He had been evading arrest by both the ACB in the liquor scam and also by the CBI in a bank fraud case.
He owns 25 liquor shops in the city and Cyberabad in the name of others and resorted to auction irregularities and MRP violations. In 2009, he contested the Lok Sabha polls on a PRP ticket with film stars Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan canvassing for him, but lost to the TRS’s K. Chandrasekhara Rao. He will be produced in the ACB special court in the city on Wednesday.
