Leopard skin seized after sting operation
State wildlife wing officials arrested a poacher who was trying to sell leopard skin on Monday at Charla, near Bhadrachalam. A team from the anti-poaching squad, led by forest range officer V. Tirumala Rao, left for Charla from Hyderabad and camped in the a forest. The team conducted a sting operation, along with wildlife activist Devidas Mangnani, and trapped the poacher. According to chief wildlife warden S.V. Kumar, the leopard skin was seized at Charla. The arrested, identified as Mohammed Rasheed, a resident of Ilapuram in Pinpaka mandal in Khammam district, was handed over to local forest officials who booked a case under the Wildlife Protection Act. Rasheed confessed he bought the leopard skin from Chhattisgarh a year ago.
Man held for importing daggers from Kuwait
The Commissioner’s Task Force has nabbed a 26-year-old man named Younus, for procuring three sophisticated daggers from Kuwait and illegally bringing them to the city. The cops seized the daggers from him. According to police, in 2006 Younus was involved in a simple assault case in Santhosh Nagar, In 2009, he went to Kuwait and worked as a bus driver. He returned to Hyderabad on May 30. While retuning he procured three sophisticated daggers from Kuwait for Rs 400 each and illegally brought it to Hyderabad. On June 3 he was waiting for his friends in front of Raagam Bar and Restaurant at Madannapet to show the daggers to them. Receiving information police rushed to the spot and arrested him along with the three daggers.
