In-laws attack traffic cop for love marriage
A cop attached to the Uppal traffic police station was brutally attacked by his in-laws at Nadargul on Friday for marrying their daughter without their consent.
Police said that K. Prabhakar, 29, a resident of Nadargul, had been working as a traffic constable. Prabhakar fell in love with one Jhansi of his neighborhood.
The parents of Jhansi adamantly objected to the marriage. However, both Prabhakar and Jhansi got married with the help of the Arya Samaj and started living together by renting an apartment at Uppal.
On the night of August 22, Prabhakar went to his village, Nadargul, to bring his parents to Uppal. After putting them in a car, they were on their way to Uppal and on the way at Gurramguda, the relatives of Jhansi stopped the car.
Jhansi’s father Yadaiah and his brothers attacked Prabhakar using iron rods and stones. The attackers scared off the parents. Later, thinking that Prabhakar hd died they left him there itself and fled.
Prabhakar’s parents rushed him to Kamineni Hospital and informed the police. The police registered an attempt-to-murder case against Jhansi’s father Yadaiah and his brothers Ganesh, Bhikshapathi, Narasimha and Jangaiah.
Meerpet S-I M.K. Ali said that Yadaiah and his brothers have fled from the village along with their families. Prabhakar is in the ICU, and is out of danger.
