KVP under fire for mentioning YSR

Several Congress leaders on Wednesday criticised the comments of party MP K.V.P Ramachandra Rao, who turned emotional over the absence of late YSR’s portrait at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday. Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Raja Narasi-mha said it was unfortunate such trivial matters like a missing portrait, were being inflated into a major issue by responsible leaders. “I don’t think there was any need to put YSR’s photo at the function. YSR was also CM like T. Anjaiah, in fact the Congress got a bad name due to several controversial decisions taken during YSR’s rule,” he said.

Nizamabad MP Madhu Yashki Goud was highly critical of Mr Rao, calling him “the No. 1 crony of (YSR Congress chief) Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in the Congress party.” He added, “Since he's likely to be arrested by the CBI at any time for his involvement in all the misdeeds of YSR and Jagan, he has raked up this issue as a distraction,” Mr Goud averred. In yet another reaction to Mr Rao’s outburst, Amalapuram MP G.V. Harsha Kumar said it was for the party to decide whose portrait should be placed at a function.

PCC general secretary K. Niranjan said Mr Ramachandra Rao was trying to divide the Congress with his unnecessary comments. He said the MP was responsible for the present sorry state of party affairs in the state. He even accused Mr Ramachandra Rao of being responsible for former CLP leader P. Janard-han Reddy’s death. Meanwhile AICC spoke-sperson Renuka Chow-dary said she was unable to understand the reason behind Mr Rao’s outburst. “I really don’t understand why he felt so much about this. Why did he ignore the mention of other CMs before YSR? Why did he ignore T. Anjaiah? It appears Mr Ramachandra Rao deliberately raked up the issue,” Ms Chowdhary said.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
