Kishan: No let-up in push for Telangana
BJP Legislature Party leader G. Kishan Reddy on Sunday said his party would continue to take up agitations for the sake of Telangana till the state is formed.
Mr Reddy was speaking to newsmen in New Delhi, where he said the party's three-day Telangana poru baata at Jantar Mantar would see top leaders like L.K. Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Nitin Gadkari and others present.
“The poru baata is being organised to bring pressure on central government to make a favourable announcement on the separate Telangana state,” the state BJP chief said.
He said the Congress-led UPA government came to power twice promising Telangana state in its manifesto but had not implemented its promise.
“This was despite the series of agitations all over the region,” he pointed out. “We will expose the Congress on the issue” Mr Reddy said.
Justifying his party’s agitation, the BJP leader said there was nothing wrong in the existence of two Telugu speaking states when there are 10 Hindi speaking states in the country. Mr Reddy said injustice to Telanga-na has been continuing since the region was merged into Andhra state.
He expressed surprise why the Congress could not implement its promise made on December 9, 2009, stating that the process of Telangana state formation was initiated.
