Kiran told to focus on administration
Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Friday reportedly told Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy to concentrate on strengthening the administration; if necessary she would consider a total revamp of the state Cabinet in September.
Sources said that Mrs Gandhi has suggested that the power portfolio, currently with the Chief Minister, should be given to a minister with independent charge.
The Telangana statehood issue and the political situation in the state, especially the impact of Kadapa MP Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s new party, were also discussed.
However, sources said the Telangana issue will only be addressed after the ongoing Parliament session ends in the second week of September.
Speculation continues about whether Mr Satyanarayana will continue as PCC chief. According to party insiders chances of a change of guard at the PCC is still open.
“If the party high command does not put its seal of approval on the PCC office-bearers list within the next few days, one can expect a change in the PCC president’s post,” a source said.
