Kiran replies to 2nd EC notice
Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal on Saturday said the EC has received reply from Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on the notice for violating model code of conduct for second time while addressing an election meeting at Tirupati on May 11. “We have received the CM's reply today and it was sent to the Election Commission to take a decision,” Mr Bhanwar Lal told repo-rters at the Secretariat.
However, the Mr Bhanwar Lal did not disclosed the contents of the Chief Minister’s reply. The EC had served its second notice to CM on Friday on the basis of newspaper reports and video-clippings of his speech describing Tirupati as a holy place and appealing to people present at the meeting that the place would become impure if they voted for the YSR Congress. This is the first time in the history of the state that a Chief Minister received a second notice for code violation. The EC is yet take a decision on the first reply.
