Kiran launches his 3rd project
After starting pumping of the backwaters of the Srisailam reservoir, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy said that he was lucky to have launched three major irrigation projects — Nettampadu, Bheema and Handri Neeva — during his tenure.
“Developmental activities will be successful only when problems are overcome,” he said while waiving interests on Rs 1 lakh of agriculture loans.
Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy added that the HNSS would also irrigate Chittoor district soon.
The Chief Minister also flagged off revenue minister Raghuveera Reddy’s Bhagiratha Vijaya Yatra. The minister will walk for 12 days, covering 216 km along with the flowing waters towards Jeedipalli reservoir in Anantapur district.
While crediting the Chief Minister for completion of Phase-I of the project, Mr Raghuveera Reddy asked farmers to join his padayatra.
“Bhagiratha Yatra will bring confidence among farmers en route the Phase-I project in Kurnool and Anantapur districts.”
In Phase-I, three reservoirs, Krishnagiri, Pathikonda in Kurnool district and Jeedipalli in Anantapur were completed and eight lifts projects built to lift water into the 216-km-long canal.
Union minister Kotla Jaya Suryaprakah Reddy, PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana, ministers Erasu Prathap Reddy, Sailajanath, Anantapur MP A. Venkatrami Reddy, MLAs of Anantapur and Kurnool and officials took part on the occasion.
Several Union and state ministers are also scheduled to take part in the padayatra daily.
