Kiran asks for funds to fight Maoist terror
While admitting drastic reduction in Maoist violence over the years, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has made a strong plea to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to approve the pending Rs 2,400 crore corridor of road network along the Maoists affected inter-state border districts, from Srikakulam to Adilabad.
Speaking at the Chief Ministers’ Conference on Internal Security in New Delhi on Monday, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said the road network project was needed to facilitate rapid movement of security forces to tackle left-wing extremists. He also requested the PM for stationing of a troop carrier helicopter at Visakhapatnam for swift airborne operations in Andhra-Odisha border.
