KCR sees a likely ally in MIM
In a sure sign that he sees the MIM as a potential ally, TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday gave enough hints that he has his doors open for any possible alliance, even as he lashed out at Telugu Desam, YSR Congress and Congress for trying to take Telangana people for a ride with false promises.
Asserting that Telangana was the only solution for removing the ills plaguing the region, the TRS chief said statehood could be achieved and TRS strengthened with the support of all sections of the people, including Muslims.
He was addressing his first public meeting at Parigi in Ranga Reddy district, about 80 km from Hyderabad, after failure of talks with Congress. Telugu Desam MLA K. Harishwar Reddy, along with his supporters, joined the TRS in Mr Rao’s presence.
Interestingly, the TRS chief targeted the Congress, YSRC and the TD, but avoided commenting on the MIM that has parted ways with the Congress.
“I feel ashamed when one promises Rajanna Rajyam another Chandranna Rajy-am in padayatras. Don’t they feel ashamed? Who ruled the state for 20 years? It was YSR and Naidu.
We are suffering because of them. They are Telangana drohulu (betrayers),” he said. Mr Rao added, “Naidu stalled Telangana and YSR tried to crush the T-movement and lured MLAs with sops. We don’t want such people or their so called golden rule.”
He added, “There are power cuts and people are suffering. Is KCR or ex-DGP P. Ramulu responsible for this? If we have separate Telangana there will be uninterrupted power with Chhattisgarh support, free convent education to children, jobs, water and the like.”
Shifting to chaste Urdu and reeling out couplets, he told Muslims present that their support was needed to achieve T-goal. “Yeh kaisa insaf hai....gharwala hai ghar ke bahar, paraya ghar ke andhar (what kind of justice is this. The owner is kicked out and an outsider occupying the house).
He added, “Allah ke ghar mein der hai, lekin andher nahi (There could be delay in the house of God, but no denial). We don’t want jaggery, chocolate or one rupee rice. We want Telangana.”
