Kavita seeks Naidu support for Ambedkar statue

Telangana Jagruti president K. Kavita on Wednesday met Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu and sought his support for installation of a statue of Dr B.R. Ambedkar in Assembly premises. Ms Kavita went to NTR Trust Bhavan and submitted a memorandum to Mr Naidu seeking his support for installation of the statue. Mr Naidu promised all possible support to the proposal.

“Mr Naidu has assured that he has no objection to installation of statue in the Assembly premises. He promised us full support,” Ms Kavita said. Later she met TRS Floor leader in the Assembly, Etala Rajender and sought his support too. “We are seeking the support of all political parties for installation of Dr Ambedkar's statue in the Assembly premises. I have also met national leaders, including Mr Ram Vilas Paswan, seeking their support for installation of Dr Ambedkar statues in various Assembly premises in the country,” the Telangana Jagruti chief said. Ms Kavita said it was unfortunate that despite support by all political parties, the government and the Speaker have not initiated any steps for installation of the statue.
