Justice Ghose new acting CJ for state HC
Justice P. C. Ghose, a judge of the Calcutta High Court, will soon be head of the Andhra Pradesh High Court as acting Chief Justice. According to sources, Justice Ghose will be transferred from Calcutta to the AP High Court as a puisne judge and will assume charge as acting Chief Justice until his elevation as the Chief Justice. Justice Ghose, (born on May 28, 1952), graduated in law and enrolled as an advocate on November 30, 1976.
He practised at the Calcutta High Court in civil, commercial, Constitutional and company matters. Justice Ghose was appointed as a permanent Judge of the Calcutta High Court on July, 17, 1997. Meanwhile, Justice Madan B. Lokur, Chief Justice of the AP High Court, has been elevated as judge of the Supreme Court and his warrant of appointment is expected in a couple of weeks.
Srilakshmi bail plea rejected
Y. Srilakshmi, former principal secretary to the industries department and accused in the OMC illegal mining case on Monday approached the AP High Court, challenging the rejection of her bail application by the special CBI court. The CBI on November 29, 2011 arrested Ms Srilakshmi for her alleged nexus with former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy in granting a mining lease to the OMC. Earlier, the CBI court granted her bail, but the High Court cancelled it upon the CBI’s plea. Then she filed another plea before the special court, seeking bail, and her plea was rejected on Friday.
