Jeweller says CBI shielding culprits
Sanjay Kumar Agarwal of Ghanshyamdas Jewels and Gems whom the CBI has charged with cheating SBI to the tune of over Rs 60 crore on Saturday alleged that the investigating agency is shielding the main culprits in the case. The CBI charged him with obtaining 250 kg of gold by producing fake sureties of Punjab National Bank.
“The application forms said to be executed by me on three occasions for delivery of 250 kg gold contains my forged signatures. I obtained the copies of the alleged documents from the Debt Recovery Tribunal and sent them to the forensic experts in ‘Truth Labs’ and Mr S.L. Lohia, a retired forensic expert who confirmed that signatures on the application forms were forged,” he said showing the reports.
“CBI confirmed in its investigation that Abdul Kareem, a former employee of our firm had taken delivery of the entire 250 kg gold by submitting alleged application forms containing my forged signatures on three occasions. I provided all the details pertaining to him to the CBI, but they are not arresting him for reasons best known to them,” he said while speaking to mediapersons.
Mr Pawan Kumar, AGM of SBI personally went to Punjab National Bank and handed over a letter seeking confirmation of the alleged bank guarantee of Rs 60 crore to one of the officials of Punjab National Bank. He had even received an alleged and forged confirmation letter dated April 22, 2011 (Good Friday, a national bank holiday) from PNB and the same was denied by PNB authorities who even stated that Pawan Kumar was misleading SBI, he pointed out.
